TarantaCeltica unites the hypnotic rhythmic energy of Southern Italian Tarantella and the uplifting boldness of the Irish Tradition, to create an ecstatic high energy hybrid of passion and joy. Led by master percussionists Andrea Piccioni and Dave Boyd, an ensemble of world class multi-instrumentalists draw inspiration from the singing and dance music of Calabria, and the rich and textured repertoire of Irish jigs, reels, polkas and songs. The ensemble came together in April 2023 for a period of writing and development in County Tipperary, Ireland before embarking on a sold out premiere Irish tour.

In August 2023 they travelled to Calabria as guests of Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Catanzaro-Nocera Terinese to be artists in residence in the village of Monasterace for another period of rehearsals and composition in the heart of the Calabrian Taranta tradition culminating in a series of sold out and highly acclaimed festival performances.
